Great news for skilled workers in Manitoba!
If your work permit is expiring or already expired, you may now be able to stay and work in Manitoba for up to 2 more years—thanks to a Temporary Public Policy introduced by the Manitoba government.
Let’s break it down simply so you can see if you’re eligible and how to apply.
What’s This Policy About?
Starting April 22, 2025, Manitoba allows certain workers to extend their work permit for 2 more years.
This gives you more time to live, work, and apply for Canada PR through the Manitoba PNP (Provincial Nominee Program).
🗓️ Valid until December 31, 2025
Who Can Apply?
You may qualify if you’re planning to apply for the Manitoba PNP and meet one or more of these:
🔴 You have a valid work permit expiring in 2025
🔴 You had a valid work permit on May 7, 2024, and now it’s expired
🔴 You’ve applied for:
- A new work permit
- An extension of your temporary stay
- Restoration of your status
You were legally working on May 7, 2024, and have since applied to extend or restore your status
Additional Requirements (You MUST Have These)
To qualify, you also need to:
🔴 Have a valid EOI (Expression of Interest) profile with Manitoba PNP as of January 15, 2025
🔴 Have been living in Manitoba before January 15, 2025 and still live there
🔴 Be working for a Manitoba employer who provides a letter of employment
🔴 Intend to settle permanently in Manitoba
How to Apply for the Work Permit Extension

It selects people based on job skills, work experience, and community ties.
