The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) has stopped supporting certain job applications under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). This means that people applying for permanent residency through AIP can no longer use job offers from these occupations to qualify.

Why is New Brunswick Limiting These Jobs?
The Canadian government has reduced the number of immigrants allowed through provincial programs in 2025. New Brunswick has been given only 2,750 immigration spots this year. To manage this, the province is now focusing on healthcare, education, and construction jobs.
What is the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)?
The AIP helps skilled workers move to New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. To qualify, you need:
- A job offer from an employer approved by the government.
- An endorsement from the province.
Some benefits of AIP include:
- Direct path to permanent residency (PR).
- A two-year work permit.
- Faster processing times.
- No LMIA requirement.
- Settlement support services.
Who Can Still Apply for AIP in New Brunswick?
Currently, New Brunswick will only accept endorsement applications from people with job offers in these sectors:
- Healthcare
- Education
- Construction trades

Ways to improve your chances:

- Study in Canada.
- Have a sibling in Canada who is a PR or citizen.
2. New Brunswick Express Entry Stream
If your Express Entry score is low, you may qualify for a provincial nomination from New Brunswick, which gives you an extra 600 points. However, some jobs are not eligible for this program:
Occupation | NOC Code |

Administrative assistants | 13110 |

Restaurant and food service managers | 60030 |

Food service supervisors | 62020 |
Cooks | 63200 |
Bakers | 63202 |
If your job is not on this list, you may still qualify for the program.
New Brunswick Express Entry Stream has two pathways:
- Employment in New Brunswick Pathway
- You need to have a full-time job in New Brunswick.
- You must have lived and worked in New Brunswick for at least 12 months.

- Cooke Aquaculture
- J.D. Irving Ltd.
- Groupe Savoie
- Groupe Westco
- Imperial Manufacturing Group
- McCain Foods, Ltd.
This is a five-year program designed to fill labor shortages in key industries.
